MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM Released: How to Download & Install

MIUI 9 which has been officially launched at the end of last month comes with a lot of New features and Improvements.

Xiaomi as usual released MIUI 9 Chinese Beta ROM initially after launch. So people were eagerly waiting for the Global Beta ROM to release.

And finally, the initial release of MIUI 9 Global Beta is here for the first batch of devices.

MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM Supported devices and Release dates

The initial version of MIUI 9 v7.8.10 is now available for 1st Batch of Devices - Redmi Note 4 (Qualcomm), Redmi Note 4X and Mi 6.

The Global ROM will be subsequently released as follows:

2nd Batch - Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s,  Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Redmi 4/4X
3rd Batch - Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 3, Mi 4, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 4 MTK, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2/2S,  Mi Note, Redmi 3/Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 4A

How to Download & Install/ Upgrade to MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM

Follow these steps to Download and install MIUI 9 Beta ROM on any of Xiaomi smartphone.

STEP 0 – Before doing anything, first backup your device and all the files and store it on your PC or alternative storage.

If your Phone is on MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM

If your phone currently running on MIUI 8 Global Beta version, you can easily upgrade to MIUI 9  via OTA update.

Just open Updater app on your phone and tap on Check for updates.
The updater app will automatically search and show you the MIUI 9 update, click on Download and apply the update similar to regular update.

For others  (MIUI v5, v6, v7, v8 Stable)

1. Make sure your device’s Boot loader is Unlocked. To check the lock status, enable developer options and go to Settings – Additional settings – Developer options. Now here you can see if Boot loader lock status. If locked,  follow this Unlocking guide.
2. Go to MIUI ROM download page, Select your device and download the ROM file to your computer.
3. Install MIUI 9 on your phone using theFastboot method using this guide.
