How to Use Child Mode in Xiaomi MIUI 7

Kids these days are smart enough to play around with your smartphone. In fact they are smarter than us to grasp Technology.

It would be fine to hand your smartphone to your kids. But if they aren’t kind enough, they will end up doing an Intentional prank or Immature mistake like:

• Sending an SMS to some person your contacts
• Deleting you Personal photos or Sending it to someone.
• Uninstalling some important Apps or Data

Well, what should you do? Seize your smartphone from their hands?
NO need. Just Activate child mode in your device before you give it to them.

What is Child Mode?

Child mode is a special feature present in Xiaomi’s MIUI, which is specially designed to help you give your child what you want to give.

With child mode you can restrict your kid to access only that apps which you want.
For example, if you enabled child mode and selected some 2 apps, then he/ she can only see and use those 2 apps. You can also Block apps from sending SMS.

What can you do with Child mode on MIUI

• Allow only certain apps
• Block apps from sending SMS
• Block Internet, Notification bar and all settings

How to Turn-on/ Turn-off Child Mode

Follow these Simple steps to Enable/ Disable and use child mode in you Xiaomi Mi4, Xiaomi Mi5 or any other smartphone running Xiaomi MIUI 7 or higher.

To Enable Child mode

1. Go to Settings – Child mode 

2. Now tap on the Toggle to ON. If you haven’t set Lock  (Pattern, PIN or Password) for you device, you will now prompted to setup.
3. Now after turning ON, just under it select the apps you want to allow in child mode. And tap the Home button to enter Child mode.

Now you will see the home screen with apps that you have just selected.

There is another important option just under child mode toggle, called Lock SMS which blocks all apps from sending SMS.

To Exit Child Mode

When on child mode you can only access selected apps. You have to Exit child mode to access Other apps and Settings.

So, to Exit child mode,

1. Tap on the Exit button (X button) present at bottom of home screen and enter your Pattern/ Password.
2. Toggle the Child mode to Off

The Final Note

Now you can restrict your kid from Playing games (for Game addicts) or Block Social media apps. Or you can just turn-off internet and then activate Child mode to restrict your kid from using internet.
