MIUI Tips: Block users on Personal Wi-fi Hotspot

The Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot feature can be a life saver when you are out of your data pack and want to use your friend’s internet connection.

But the same can be equally dangerous, when you have to share yours.

All your friends are connected to your Hotspot and suck all your Bandwidth. Even if you have unlimited data plan, you may experience your Heating and Heavy battery consumption on your phone.

So for this reason, you may want to Kick people out and Block them from connecting to your network.

And MIUI 8 has a handy option to Block people on your Personal WIFI hotspot.

NOTE: Your phone should have the latest version of MIUI 8. So update your phone first.

Block users on your Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot

In order to Block a Phone or any device, the Wifi hotspot should be Turner ON and the device you want to block should be connected.

1. Open Settings and Go to Personal Hotspot & Connected devices
2. Now you can see the List of Devices connected along with their MAC Address. Tap on the device you want to block and tap OK.
3. Now just Turn OFF the hotspot and Turn it back ON.

That’s it, the person cannot connect to your Mobile hotspot from now on.

Unblock users on your Mobile Hotspot

Once you blocked a someone on your hotspot, they can’t connect until you remove the device from Blocklist.
If you want Unblock someone whom you previosly block on your Hotspot:

1. Open  Settings and go to Personal Hotspot - Connected devices -Blocklist.
2. Here you can view the list of MAC addresses of  Blocked devices. Tap on a MAC address and tap on OK to Unblock it.
   

TIP: In case of confusion, to find the MAC address of a Phone – Go to Settings > About Phone
